Dr. Jane Bromwich
BVSc(Hons) DipVetClinStud MVS MACVSc (Small Animal Medicine)
Jane was born and raised in Darwin with a menagerie of pets. She now lives on a farm with her husband mark and 4 children and still has a menagerie of pets - 2 dogs, 2 cats (adopted through the Adopt-A-Kitten program), 8 chickens and 4 horses. Jane studied Veterinary Science in Perth and has worked in mixed (small and large animals) vet practices here and overseas. In 2006 Jane completed her membership into the Australian College of Veterinary Science (Small Animal Surgery). "Family Vet Centre is a great clinic to work in, as we have a wonderfully skilled staff of vets and nurses, who pride themselves in being able to give a high level of care to all their patients in a team environment. I love the variety of the job, there is always new challenges and I still get a buzz out of seeing animals recover from injury or illness and return them to their families."

BVSc(Hons) CVA
Wodonga is my hometown and after studying in Melbourne I returned to take up a position as veterinarian at Wodonga Animal Hospital. Fifteen years later we became part of Family Vet Centre. Many of the Wodonga Animal Hospital team joined me in the move to Family Vet Centre and most of us are still here. Family Vet Centre is an amazing place to work, it is such a privilege to work alongside such a talented and passionate group of vets and nurses. In 2012 I studied acupuncture becoming a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist. By combining acupuncture with conventional treatments it has been possible to achieve even greater quality of life for many of our canine and feline patients. I just love that placing a few small needles can make a patient feel better, sometimes the improvement is truly astounding. In 2019 I stepped into the role of Practice Coordinator. Although I no longer perform general veterinary consultations, I still have the joy of providing hands on patient care with acupuncture and the pleasure of getting to know some of our delightful clients.

BVSc(Hons) MANZCVS (sml animal med)
I joined the friendly team at Family Vet Centre in 2005 when I moved to Albury from Melbourne, where I grew up. I graduated in 2003 from the University of Melbourne and moved into mixed practice. I worked in the outer Eastern rural-urban fringe of Melbourne with horses, dairy cattle, alpacas, goats and small animals. Throughout my time at Family Vet Centre, my interest in exotic pets has been fostered and grown to include rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, mice, ferrets, turtles, lizards, snakes and wildlife. In 2010 and I studied throughout my maternity leave to gain Membership of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in 2012 in the field of Small Animal Medicine. Since 2012 I have furthered my personal study in canine medicine, dentistry and geriatrics, avian medicine and surgery, rabbit medicine, dentistry and surgery among other fields. I find the medicine and surgery of all species interesting as part of the enjoyment of veterinary medicine is never quite knowing what challenges will come your way next! I remain at Family Vet Centre as I feel supported by an amazing team of vets and nurses with many and varied passions, interests and skills with whom I can gain, and also share, knowledge.

Cert IV veterinary Nurse, Diploma Veterinary Nurse - General Practice
I began my nursing career back in April 2000 with Dr Mara King and was later adopted in to the Family Vet Centre team. I find all aspects of veterinary nursing rewarding and after completing my Certificate IV in vet nursing I went on to study a diploma in vet nursing- general practice. Over the years I have also spent time working as equine nurse and caring for wildlife. Working in a clinic that strives to provide the best possible care for the patient and client, while sometimes challenging is also highly rewarding and I feel very privileged to work with such a passionate and highly educated team of vets and veterinary nurses.

Rennai
Veterinary Receptionist
My name is Rennai and I have recently moved from Hervey bay in sunny QLD. Growing up in a farming community, animals have always been a big part of my life. After 16 years of hairdressing I made the big jump to study and complete my certificate 4 in veterinary nursing and have never looked back. I have two golden retriever water babies, Bronx and Aska, and a beautiful but feisty cat called Maz who have travelled from the Bay with me. They are loving the cooler weather down here. I can’t wait to get out and explore the area as camping and hiking is one of the many things I love to do in my spare time. I have been so very lucky to have been given the opportunity to start at Family Vet Centre here in Wodonga where everyone has been so very welcoming.I love the challenges that every day brings and the fact that it is an industry that you never stop learning. I am looking forward to getting to know all our regular and new clients in the coming months.

Kayla

Hello, my name is Kayla and I was born and raised in Wodonga. I have always loved animals since I was a kid. When I was little I was too afraid to play in the backyard as it backed onto a main road and was scared someone would jump over, so mum and dad brought a Maltese Shih Tzu named Scruffy and from then on I loved the backyard, even though he would just lick the person to death if they did jump over. As a kid, I always wished to have a pet rabbit. Many years later I finally got my first rabbit and now I want many more…They are so smart and just so cute! They are definitely one of my favourite animals and I love learning more and more about them. I have a particular interest in exotics and always want to learn more. I completed my work placement with Family Vet Centre over the course of 3 years during my training, and I was lucky enough to be offered a traineeship with them.

Tanya
Trainee Nurse
My name is Tanya and I have had a passion and love for animals from a young age. Growing up on a dairy farm near Tallangatta with two younger sisters I had a variety of animals to love and occupy my waking hours. If I wasn't racing around the paddocks on horseback I was playing with one of our many pets. We had everything over the years including dogs, cats, rabbits, rats, guinea pigs, chickens, geese, birds and of course my hand reared bull Fergus. I also loved helping to care for the cows, goats and the occasional sheep. I currently live in Albury with my fiance and our fur baby Shadow, a Bull Arab cross Kelpie and hope to add to our family in the coming years. I started on the path of veterinary nursing during school when I was given the option of studying my certificate 2 in animal care, since then I have been hooked on the idea that I could have a career of providing care and enrichment to a variety of animals. I have been working for the Family Vet Centre since 2018 and was welcomed with open arms into a group of such strong and loving people that each day go to work to provide care, treatment, repair and rehabilitation to a variety of animals while offering a shoulder or ear to the animals loving parent. I feel privileged to work and learn amongst such amazing people and look forward to the challenges that each day may provide.

It was a blessing to be raised in a small farming community in South Africa. After graduating from Vet school in 1997, I worked in mixed rural practice. Whilst at University I met the love of my life, Marian. Together with our 3 children, Louis, Paula and Fritz we arrived in Australia in 2009. Our pet family has grown over the years and now includes Hannah (Airedale) Chess (Jack Russel) and Tombi (Wire hair pointer). I joined Family Vet Centre in 2010.Our team consists of very committed, caring and professional staff with vast experience. We appreciate our clients as they take very good care of their pets. It is truly a privilege to be a part of this very special human - animal bond. I enjoy soft tissue surgery and have a particular interest in early detection and prevention of Hip dysplasia through the PennHIP system. In late 2017 we started Our Family’s Mobile Vet. This has been a very rewarding part of my career. Dealing with everything from conception, pregnancy checks, whelping checks, vaccinations and sadly, home euthanasia. Providing at home service often provides a much more relaxed environment for the vet, pet and family alike.

I have been a veterinarian for over 30 years having graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1979. These years have been rewarding and challenging. I began work in Wangaratta in mixed practice and then moved to Myrtleford to become the principal of the practice. This was also a mixed practice with both large and small animals being attended to. Over this period in Myrtleford, veterinary science started to change from a profession where a vet was expected to do everything, to a realisation that it was no longer possible for a vet to be highly proficient across all animal species. After the move to Albury–Wodonga in 1991, this change accelerated with registered specialists becoming qualified and an increasing need for veterinarians to gain increased knowledge in a smaller field to manage the increasing knowledge in animal health and treatments. This increase in the knowledge of fields of veterinary science shows no sign of slowing. The time I have spent as part of Albury Veterinary Hospital and then Family Vet Centre has been fulfilling and a great reward to me. The hard work of those years is seen in the marvellous people I work with. The expansion of the practice over the years has enabled us to bring highly qualified and able people into the practice to service our clients and patients far better than I could have imagined 20 years ago. I’ve now taken a step back from clinic life, although you will still find me in the clinic on occasion

I grew up in regional Victoria on a beef cattle farm with my parents, three brothers, & a variety of animals ranging from cattle, horses & chickens to dogs & cats. At the age of 10 I decided I wanted to become a veterinarian as opposed to a “human doctor” because I thought it would be more challenging because animals cannot tell you what is wrong with them. I definitely chose the right career! We are constantly faced with challenges on a daily basis & I am very passionate about treating all animals as if they are my own pets, & offering gold standard treatment wherever possible. With a love of the outdoors & all animals big & small, I graduated with a double degree in Veterinary Biology/Veterinary Science in July 2016, with my husband Joel by my side. Since joining the Family Vet Centre team, I have adopted one of the clinics adopt-a-kittens, Nina, a cheeky tortoishell who loves playing with my two Jack Russell’s, Squirt & Ginny. I enjoy soft tissue surgery, medical cases, endoscopy, working with wildlife & cytology. I have completed a short course in ultrasound which has been extremely useful in working up a lot of medical cases. I hope to complete more short courses in the near future to help expand my knowledge & skills in these areas.

I grew up in the Albury Wodonga area with a menagerie of pets. I feel very privileged to have turned my love of animals into a career. After graduating from Charles Sturt University with honours in 2014, I worked in a mixed practice for four years prior to joining the Family Vet Centre Team in 2018. My interests include small animal abdominal ultrasound and soft tissue surgery. However, the aspect I love most about the job is the variety every working day brings. Outside of work I love spending time with my husband, Kieran and daughter, Frankie. Along with our two fur children Summer and Skip and pet cows Bella and Daisy.

Growing up on a dairy farm just out of Echuca and then at Running Creek in the Kiewa Valley, I have always been surrounded by animals. I am incredibly passionate about animals and feel so lucky that I get to do what I love for a living. I have a Maltese X Ishka, 3 cats Shelby, Squizzy and Nala, as well as 3 fish. My other interests include horse and motorbike riding, and archery.
Jacqueline
Veterinary Nurse
Hello, my name is Jacqueline. After living in Queensland for 10+ years I moved back to the region in 2014 and started working at Family Vet Centre. From a very young age I have been passionate about the wellbeing of all animals. Given my family’s nursing history, I felt destined to carry on the tradition but for the furry, scaly and feathered kind instead of the human kind. I have always been surrounded by animals since I was young and now I am a proud owner of a Border Collie x Kelpie, named Bobbie, a Border Collie named Sam and a very strong-willed cat named Mickey. My furry children keep me very busy and on my toes so there is never a dull moment in my household. I have been nursing since 2008 and have cared for a variety of animals, including exotic animals such as rabbits, birds, reptiles, rats and mice. I have learnt so much since starting at Family Vet Centre and plan to continue learning far into the future. I have the privilege of working with such a wonderful and supportive team. I love my job and the many challenges that come with it. I don't see caring for animals as a job, I see it as my passion in life.

I grew up in the country with an ever changing menagerie of pets... Cats, dogs, horses, rabbits, ducks, turtles, birds, even a donkey named George. I've always had a huge love of animals, and as a child I was constantly bringing home injured and orphaned creatures to nurse back to health. I'd always dreamed of being a vet nurse, but I started a family early on and my dreams went on the back burner for a while. I kept my passion for animals alive through voluntary work with Riding for the Disabled, helping out at local sanctuaries, wildlife rescue and rehab with W.I.R.E.S, and fostering for local rescue groups. I've had many different pets over the years, all coming into my care through need of help. The most recent additions are Elly the rescued pound pup, Zeus the 15 year old cat, who was abandoned with a broken jaw (giving him a unique "smile") and young kitties Lincoln and Taz, who both risked being put to be put to sleep as they were deemed too feral to re-home. All are now happy, sweet and much loved family pets. In 2013 I had the opportunity to study Certificate IV in Vet Nursing, and I am now pursuing my dream career in the wonderful, supportive and caring team environment at the Family Vet Centre. Every day brings something new and challenging, and for me there is no greater feeling than to comfort and reassure an unwell pet while they receive much needed treatment.

I was born and raised in the Wodonga region, and from the age of two enjoyed travelling around Australia with my family for months at a time. I started working at Family Vet in 2008 while completing my Vet Nursing Certificate as a school-based apprenticeship. I am always keen to learn and experience new things to expand my knowledge within the nursing field. When not at work I can be found caring for my animals at home which include my two dogs, Champy a very unique hand raised Jack Russell and Luna, a ball of energy Border Collie, four horses, Blaze, Torri, Ebony and Atlas, various types of fish, a variety of chooks and ducks, and a two very noisy canaries called Olli and Junior. Vet nursing is an extremely rewarding experience, there is always something new to discover. The smiles on client’s faces and the excitement of patients as they see their owner is a memory that you will carry with you forever.

I grew up in Baranduda as a child and have always had my own menagerie of animals ranging from horses, dogs, fish and birds. In 2005 I started my certificate II in Animal Studies with Mara King to then have a great opportunity to continue on to study my certificate IV in Vet Nursing at Goulburn-Ovens TAFE. Since then I have taken a 2 year break to start my own family and build a new home. I currently own a Bull Mastiff cross, named Bundy, a Purebred Staffy named Buster, a cockatiel named Odie and in the near future would like to own horses again. I feel very privileged to have the opportunity to work with the Family Vet Centre team as vet nursing is a very big passion of mine. I really enjoy coming to work and experiencing new challenges and working along side a great team of people.

Growing up on a farm I have always been surrounded by animals hence my great love of them. I spent most of my childhood on horses and always knew I wanted to grow up working with animals. I have been a nurse for 6 years and every day brings something different and exciting. I have two dogs, 'Ruby' (mini Bull Terrier), 'Cuda' (American Staffy) and a cat 'Aida' who are all very lucky to have a vet nurse as their owner due to the never ending problems they have!! Ruby being allergic to EVERYTHING and on allergy vaccine, and Cuda coming to me from work as an abandoned puppy with a broken leg, and finally Aida also coming to me from work as an adopt a kitten. Having recently been on materinity leave after having my gorgeous little man Rory, I have returned to work part time and am still absolutely loving it. Caring for and helping to heal animals is a sometimes difficult but very rewarding that gives me a great sense of purpose.

Hi, I'm Rachael and I have always had a passion for animals and knew I wanted to work with them. I have had many animals growing up ranging from chickens, ducks, geese, dogs, cats, snakes, lizards, turtles, rats, rabbits, sheep, cows, goats and alpacas. I have rescued many animals over the years too, my first rescue being a kid... a baby goat. His name is Lenny and he is now a beautiful fully grown goat (who thinks he’s a dog). I am a fully qualified Veterinary Nurse, and I couldn’t imagine myself doing any other job. I am looking into furthering my studies, with special interest in pathology and imaging. I am so privileged to work with such an amazing group of people, everyone has so much to offer and have helped me so much over the years. Not only do we work at a professional high quality level, we also care for your animals as our own, which is what I love about working with Family Vet Centre

I began my nursing career while still at school, working weekends for my local vet in Sydney. Finishing school I began vet nursing full-time and had the opportunity to learn from some amazing vets and veterinary nurses while studying for my certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. Moving to Albury-Wodonga in 1998 I was adopted by Family Vet Centre and soon I had a growing menagerie of rescued animals to care for at home. Recently I returned to Family Vet Centre after time away with my family. The Veterinary profession is always changing and I love the challenge of always having something new to learn with so many opportunities to improve my nursing skills. I look forward to coming to work each day and being part such an amazing team. My favorite part of Vet Nursing is the relationships that I have with families and their pets and the experiences that we share.

Grooming
I was born in Albury and have lived here all my life, of latter years with my husband and 2 boys. Currently I have two dogs, six horses, three green tree frogs, numerous reptiles and one turtle. I’m passionate about the welfare of captive reptiles and am the Reptile coordinator for WIRES locally. My grooming interest started with clipping horses but now I get great satisfaction from clipping a scruffy, matted dog into a manageable, sweet smelling pet that is lovely to cuddle again. Working at Family Vet Centre gives me great advantages as a groomer. There is always someone ready to provide help or advice and if I find a medical problem, that can be investigated immediately.

Hi, my name is Ashe and I am a qualified Veterinary Nurse. Working with animals has always been a key goal in my life; from playing “Ashe’s Vet Clinic” with my childhood pet - a bunny named Frosty who was very well behaved for some pretend bandaging and emergency care, to reading animal books whenever I could get my hands on them. Growing up I lived close to Family Vet Centre Albury, where I was very fortunate to have completed my studies with the supportive team of vets and nurses; and to have then started working with them in 2015. I enjoy the Pathology aspect of Veterinary Nursing and would like to further my studies in this area alongside branching out into an Equine component. I would also like to expand my knowledge into the more unusual exotics; with a particular fondness for Red Pandas and Meerkats. I love that in our industry there’s always something new to learn, and challenges that encourage me to expand my skills. In my spare time, I enjoy horse riding and spending some quality time in the sun with our beautiful adoption cat, Nala.

Leo grew up in Singapore, where many stray cats roamed the streets before the turn of the century. When Leo was young he would play with the stray cats he met in the streets, to him all the cats in Singapore were his cats. He also had terrapins and hamsters while growing up. After his schooling in Singapore, Leo decided to pursue his love of science and animals by coming to Australia to study veterinary medicine. He graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2013, and worked in several Small Animal practices all over Australia. By chance, Leo ended up in Wodonga and is pleased to be a part of the Family Vet Centre team, helping all animals in Albury-Wodonga. He has taken up the care of Miss Kitty, a mature cat who was living with the house he was living at in Wodonga. While he is not working, Leo enjoys working out at the gym, and trying out different craft beers and spirits, especially whiskies.

The Veterinary Industry has changed so much over my nursing career and I love the fact that everyday brings something new to learn about. I currently live with my crazy Border Collie Gnasher (pictured).

I have lived in Albury most of my life and have always loved animals, dogs in particular. We had many dogs as I was growing up. Now my family consists of my husband and two children (all grown up now) and our German Shepherd Mia. I have worked as a dog groomer at the Family Vet Centre since 2012. I love transforming our clients scruffy dogs and then seeing their reactions when they pick up their fur babies.

I have recently completed my certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, so I am relatively new to the veterinary nursing world! I was lucky enough to had completed work placement at Family Vet Centre in 2019. I really enjoyed my placement, where I was able to learn and grow through my training. Fortunately, I was given the opportunity to begin my traineeship in 2020. I am a local Albury girl and have always had a love for domestic pets. Over the years I have owned two rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, a cat and two dogs. I am lucky enough to be the proud owner of a beautiful Cavoodle named Cooper, who is very spoilt! I am fortunate to have developed the knowledge and skills through my training to be able to make sure he is fit and healthy – as he is my fur baby! One thing I am really passionate about is educating pet owners of the importance of looking after your pets. I’m still discovering what field I would like further my studies in - as I am only new to this career I am sure it won’t take me long! I am so glad I chose this career path – whilst at times it can be challenging with the situations we are faced with, what prevails is the ultimate care we can provide to animals.

My story goes, while growing up in India I have always been surrounded by animals. At one point we even had 4 dogs and 2 cats and of course the intermittent rescues- birds, bunnies, nilgai calves and more! My first dog Sheeba, who I grew up with from when I was a year old and my exposure to all kinds of animals, well-housed as well as strays and the wild were critical factors that motivated me to become a skilled veterinarian. I was able to realise my lifelong dream in 2020 when I graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Murdoch University. I also have a Masters in Wildlife Conservation from Wildlife Institute of India. I am passionate about animal health and enjoy general practice with a keen interest in soft tissue surgery and small animal emergency medicine. I moved to the Wodonga-Albury region as it reminds me of my hometown of Darjeeling and also offers just the right mix of city and regional life. I have been fortunate to have such a warm, supportive and wonderful team to work with. Apart from working which I absolutely love, I also like to cook, bake, make all sorts of art - ceramics, painting and discover more of the region.

Cert IV Veterinary Nursing
My love for animals has stuck with me ever since I was a little girl from growing up watching my nanny have such a huge amount of love and care for animals and watching her make such amazing bonds with all animals great and small, I always told her that my dream was to work with animals. Veterinary nursing has been a very rewarding job and I am always very eager and excited to continue my learning and grow within this field of work, Something I love about this industry is the never ending knowledge and how no day is ever the same. One of many things that I love most about my job is being able to care and comfort animals the way I would want my own animals cared for during their stay in the hospital. Outside of work I like to spend my time exploring new walking tracks with my dog, kahlúa a very clumsy chocolate Labrador.

Hannah Gibbs
Cert IV Veterinary Nursing
I grew up in Sydney and have recently moved to Albury with my partner Ben, who is in the army. Moving around often is hard but I have felt so welcome at Family Vet Centre since starting in May 2022. I completed my Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2020 but started my career in 2019 at the beginning of my studies at a small animal clinic on the North shore and I also worked at an emergency specialist centre during summer. I have a love for all animals big and small but have a soft spot for large breed dogs with my family dog being a bull mastiff/staffy.

Laurel
Studying Cert IV Veterinary Nursing
Hi, I'm Laurel and I'm a trainee nurse here at Family Vet Centre. I started working here part time whilst completing my Certificate II in Animal Studies through the Greencross Internship and I'm currently in the process of studying my Certificate IV in Veterninary Nursing. I am fortunate to be amongst an incredible team between the two clinics and have had the opportunity to be exposed to various animals, such as cats and dogs to rabbits and birds. I love that my peers support me in my learning and aid in my development of skills required in nursing care. I have a handsome Swiss Shepherd who loves belly scratches, squeaky toys and swimming at the beach.

BVSc (Hons) BSc DVM
Since a young child I have always had an increasing fascination and interest for animals. This has stemmed from my early childhood growing up on a farm on Kangaroo Island surrounded by livestock, dogs, cats and wildlife. Living on a farm ignited my passion and yearning to become a veterinarian. Throughout my veterinary degree at Charles Sturt University, my focus gravitated towards small animal surgery and medicine, obtaining a comprehensive understanding in this field. My passion for pursuing the small animal practice pathway was solidified in my final year rotations. A highlight of my final year was completing a small animal desexing program in Thailand, helping me obtain proficient surgical skills. These experiences showed me the rich diversity and knowledge of being a small animal veterinarian and further developed my understanding of life as a rural veterinarian. The combination of clinical and production farm experience strongly reinforced my desire for helping animals and wanting to contribute to the rural community in the capacity of a veterinarian. In the Albury-Wodonga region, Family Vet Centre stood out as an ideal place to embark on this journey, offering a welcoming environment and a team renowned for their expertise. Beyond my progressional pursuits, I enjoy going to the gym, playing netball, and spending time with my two cavoodles, Oakee and Hank.
